Is there an inexpensive home remedy for colon cleansing?

By admin | April 12, 2009

I’ve been doing a little research on those colon cleansing kits and they seem like the way to go for a healthier system. I work out regularily & have begun eating better. These kits are believed to eliminate toxicity and waste from the body, reduce stress from our vital organs (liver, colon, kidneys, blood, skin, etc.) and support the rejuvenation of the immune system. This all sounds great, B U T…..EXPENSIVE!! I just wondered if anyone knew any safe home remedies that might work as well?

Psyllium hulls in powder form that you mix with water 2 to 3 times per day, drink lots of water, eath lot of fiber and raw vegetables, take acidophilous. this would be a good minimum to start. After about 2 weeks you can reduce psyllium to teice daily and discontinue the acidophilous.

You may wish to do a juice fast for the first day or two if you have a juicer and can access fresh vegetable juice, not v8 or sugary fruit juices.

This is not the most complete or exhaustive cleanse but it is a good basic start and the psylliun, water, fiber, vegetables part of it can be maintained for life. In the long run cunsistent healthy practices win out over occasional extremes anyway.

What is the best colon cleanse supplement for weight loss?

By admin | April 12, 2009

I always hear of new colon cleansers everywhere I turn, and I want to know where I a could order a free smaple of a colon cleanser online without wasting my time. Also, how are you supposed to use colon cleanser as a weight loss supplement?

Hi Megan,

Personally, I’ve had a lot of success with the product Colon Clean (you can get more details on my website if you like – they do offer a good free trial).

Colon cleanse products are designed to help clear out the gunk that accumulates in the intestines over years of eating meat and junk food. Think about it – the human body isn’t designed to process all the artificial chemicals we add to food, so it’s natural for some bits and pieces to get trapped in the colon. These left over bits can lead to some serious health consequences over time if they aren’t addressed.

Using a colon cleanse product removes the left over gunk, so users do see some initial weight loss as the colon is cleaned out. In addition, cleaning the colon enables it to digest foods better, so you won’t have as much buildup in the future. People who use colon cleanse products often report having higher energy levels and feeling healthier overall than ever before – both of which can make it easier to stick with a healthy diet and exercise plan.

The most important thing to remember is to look for a colon cleanse product that’s gentle and includes a pro-biotic supplement. While you’re cleaning the intestine, you’ll be wiping out some of the beneficial bacteria that live there. It’s important to choose a product that replaces them, since low bacteria levels can give you lots of trouble digesting foods in the future.

Anyways, if you have any questions, feel free to contact me – I’d be happy to discuss the program I used with you!

Any doctors have an opinion about taking lactobacillus acidophilus supplements?

By admin | April 12, 2009

Do you believe that it helps to take a supplement for colon health and to prevent yeast infections? I know that you can eat yogurt and get the same effect, but I was curious if taking the pill form would help out as well? What is the opinion? I read that the studies aren’t very conclusive and I was wondering what the current status was.

Current medical opinion is that the studies are inconclusive. Basically, without strong proof, the implication is that it really doesn’t help, or it helps so little that you would need to treat so many people in a study to prove it that it isn’t practical.

My personal feeling is that there may be some benefit that hasn’t been proven because studies have been small or poorly designed. Because it is not harmful and is so cheap, I tell my patients that they can take it if they want to.

Remember that the best time to take it is outside of the conditions that are killing your body’s own bacteria (Lactobacillus is one). That is to say, if you are on antibiotics, do not take them within 3-4 hours of antibiotics, or they will die, too. Otherwise, you could try Saccharomyces boulardii, which is not susceptible to most antibiotics.

Are Colon Cleanses worth it?

By admin | April 10, 2009

I’ve been hearing a lot about colon cleansing pills and systems lately and how its good for your health and body shape (getting rid of a bloated belly) and weight loss. Is there any truth to all this hype? Is it worth a try and if yes, what’s a good colon cleanse pill to try?

Plan on a week on the toilet….

Eating foods good for colon is a better way.

Try eating bran cereal everyday for a week and adding more fiber to your diet and things like that….
